WHERE: Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park QLD
Leading directly onto the beach, the Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park has it all!
Close to the park are walking tracks, lookouts, and plenty of things to see & explore. We chose to spend our afternoon beachcombing. The park is located on a narrow strip of land between Cape Hillsborough and Andrews Point and fronts onto Casuarina Bay. The stretch of sand from Andrews Point to Indian Head provided us with endless hours of beachcombing.
Be sure to watch your step! We were in awe witnessing sand bubbler crabs creating exquisite patterns in the sand. There are volcanic rock formations along the coastline and underfoot so be careful.
Two hours on either side of low tide you can make your way by foot to Wedge Island. We loved this walk!
The area is blessed with four amazing walking trails, all of which are located in close vicinity to the park.
The wildlife that surrounds this park is amazing. We woke up bright and early and took in the epic sunrise, while the kangaroos & wallabies also enjoyed their surroundings. This especially made the scenery breathtaking!
We were lucky enough to be up early enough to take in the scenery all alone before crowds and the ranger arrived.
This is an experience we will never forget. An experience that cannot be described accurately enough to reflect just how epic it was!
Go on, experience the Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park yourself, you won’t regret it!
Accommodation cost:
We chose an unpowered site for $33.00 per night for 2 guests (extra guests $10.00 per person). We stayed for one night but wished it was many more!
There are plenty of other options for accommodation ranging from beach houses, family beach cabins, beach huts, and powered sites.
Park Facilities:
A swimming pool with slides is located within the tourist park. We relaxed by the pool on the chairs while our little girl wore herself out on the waterslides!
There is a diner located onsite, open from 10 am-2 pm for a delicious lunch. There are many other activities including putt-putt golf- See reception to find out more.
Three amenities blocks scattered around the park, a camp kitchen, outdoor BBQs, a laundry, and a BAR!
There is a small shop located at the front gates where you check-in, the shop carries basic groceries, bait, meat, and souvenirs. You can also find yourself sneaking an ice cream.
