When you’re itching to get away in the van but have work and sports commitments and it’s winter, what do you do? Duck away to Bulahdelah for 1 night, an hour away from Newcastle, to recharge and relax around a fire and nature.

The owners have done a great job with creating this park. It’s one road in and out making it perfect for kids riding their bikes doing time trials. A camp kitchen overlooking the river and amenities and pool with slide, jumping pillow, playground, and activities room all within arm’s length of each other. Parents can take a seat and kids jump from one activity to the next. It’s a set and forgets park, everything you need is all within walking distance.

The spacious powered sites and cabins are on 50 acres of riverfront with mountain views in every direction. The pub, butcher, IGA, bakery, and bottle-o all within walking distance of the park. All shops are a must visit, especially the chicken pockets from the butcher and the ham and cheese sausage rolls from the bakery.

On top of your nightly cost at River Myall, you have to pay for your power separately. I think this a great idea as it makes you consciously think about the power you are using. The most we have paid in all our trips to this park is $3!

Our son took our car key on an excursion to the jumping pillow and left it in a safe spot in the sand. Gary, the owner of the park, saw it and walked the park to find us. I almost wanted to hug him. This park has such a homely feel about it. I guess that’s why we are back for our 3rd time. Definitely put this park on your list to visit.
