Where – Big4 Karuah Jetty Holiday Park

We recently went to Big4 Karuah Jetty Holiday Park for another Jayco Newcastle Customer Appreciation weekend.

We managed to sneak away on the Thursday afternoon after work as the park is only 40minutes from Newcastle. Waking up on Friday morning we were greeted with more rain but as predicted it didn’t hang around for long and started to clear up for a great day. We packed up some snacks and headed up the famous Karuah Jetty to do some ‘catch, kiss and release’ fishing. I’m surprised how long the kids will sit there trying to catch a fish.

After fishing we went back for some lunch and then a tennis tournament. Because you aren’t holidaying with kids unless you cover the whole parks activities in the first day! We hired the rackets and balls from the front office for the day, no cost just had to provide our site number. Kids and adults all got involved for what turned into a competitive but fun game. After working up a sweat from tennis we were into the pool. Although still to cold for some, the kids enjoyed the splash pool. Suited all the kids that were there from babies up to 6yrs and beyond. The afternoon bought a stint at the enclosed playground and the games room. The games room was a hit with the free old school arcade games, chocolate machine and air hockey!

We arranged for the local RSL courtesy bus to pick us up for dinner. The RSL features a great mix of Chinese and Australian dishes. They had the raffles going  and we won a massive meat tray! With a band and a darts tournament going there was entertainment for everyone. Once finished, the courtesy bus took us back to the caravan park and dropped us off at our caravan. The local community is so welcoming here and really appreciate the travellers’ staying local and spending money in their town.

Saturday brought another beautiful day of adventures. The on-site coffee van was busy from 7.30am with all the guests, while the kids got in early for a fish off the jetty. The sun also allowed for the jumping pillow to be open which was full of children all day. The groundskeeper kindly reminded the kids they have go karts for hire so it was a race to pick the fastest colour and whip around the park. If  you are a Big4 member, you get 30minutes free hire. We cooked up our meat tray winnings for lunch and enjoyed it with a few of our friends.

Jayco Newcastle staff put on a fun afternoon of trivia and lawn games. It was an afternoon of laughs with everyone getting involved, including John who hates being in the limelight. Jayco Newcastle are great at creating afternoons that are inclusive for all ages. After trivia, we were treated to a BBQ ran by the Raymond Terrace Lions Club and finished the afternoon off with live music from Andy.

Thank you Jayco Newcastle for another great weekend!!

Credit to the staff at  this park, they were so accommodating for everything that was asked of them.

Keep an eye out for the next Customer Appreciation Weekend invitation, you don’t want to miss it!
